Clashes have broken out in three South Sudan states just days after the country’s warring factions agreed to unconditionally stop fighting.

According to the BBC, this latest round of violence broke out in Upper Nile, Jonglei and Unity states where rebels allege that oil fields were being targeted.

The army has accused the rebels of restarting the conflict saying that their attacks were repelled.

On Friday, after two days of talks, regional East African body Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) gave President Salva Kiir and rebel leader Riek Machar 15 days to reach a peace deal or risk facing sanctions.
